I have purchased two of NorthWest Arms custom built rfles, a .50 BMG single-shot and a Bull-barrel .223 bolt-action, they both shoot 1-hole groups at 100 yards. The fit and finish of the rifles is superb, they're more than firearms, they're functional works of art. The only thing that keeps me from owning more of Steve's guns is my wife!

Dear Steve Romans,
The 220 Swift that you built me is defInitely a tack driver! The first 75 rounds I was not so sure about, but once I got to 100, the rifle was shooting just under 1/2-inch groups. I thought the rifle could do better so I started playing with some loads and found that the Swift liked a 52 grain Sierra match grade hollow-point bullet behind 36.3 grains of 4064 IMR powder. I shoot groups with the Swift that are constantly well under 1/4-inch in size. I placed a 6-24X Burris scope on it with a short Harris bipod also. In early June this year I went out to Western Kansas to shoot some prarie dogs. While everybody else was chucking hundreds of bullets out there with their 223's, I took my time with the Swift and made some well placed shots from 300 to 500 yards. I also made a witnessed 690 yard shot on a prarie dog with a slight wind! This prarie dog is the one in the picture that I included with this letter. Nedless to say this was the shot of the trip. This rifle will have to come back on Kansas next year! I am very pleased with the rifle you have built me and would highly reccommend your services to anyone.
Thank You,

Hey Steve,
I thought I'd take a minute and tell you about a couple of really superb N.W. Arms Rifles. First that 6MMPPC Rifle you built. I've had it about three weeks and it now owns every shooting record at the Shumway Shooter's Lounge, no easy accomplishment considering the thousands of five shot groups that have been fired there. It's just amazing that a rifle can be this honest. The best five shot group so far is a .107 inch shot by that turd of a brother of mine. .250 inch groups are very common. All groups are at 100 yards. My goal is a sub .100 group and when this damn heat wave breaks I'll make it happen. I know the rifle is capable but I'm not sure I am. But I'll get there. That .107 inch group was shot using 27.7 grs of H322 and a 68 gr. Berger bullet. Ive owned lots of good rifles Steve, but this shoots paper better than all of them, it exceeded all expectations. Thanks
Now about that 300 Ultra Mag. If there's a better long range hunting rifle out there, I'd like to see it. I mapped this rifle out to 800 yards using my range finder in 50 yard increments. I was amazed at how consistent it was as I got farther and farther out. I shot inch and a half groups out at 500 yards and 3 to 4 inch out to 800 yards. That's deadly accuracy on big game. Joe and I have shot lots of crows with this gun. The farthest was 704 yards. At one point we were 12 of 13 crows ranging from 350 yards to 704 yards. That's good shooting by any standard. I've tried several different loads but found that 90 grs. of H1000 and a 180 gr. Sierra Match bullet worked best. If I can get an accurate reading on my rangefinder and set my scope accordingly, I usually hit what I'm aiming at dead center.
One more thing Steve, not only do your rifles shoot great, they look as good as they shoot. Your attention to detail is unmatched. Your rifles are a work of art. One thing I find very interesting is your philosophy about what it takes to make a rifle that shoots straight. Good components are only one thing. Assembling them together correctly, aligning all the parts to very small tolerances takes time and patience. You seem to have a unique ability to do what it takes to build a great rifle.
I now own four of your rifles, Steve. A 50 cal BMG, a 300 Ultra Mag, a 6MM-06 and a 6MMPPC. Gee, I wonder where i go from here.
Thanks a lot Steve.

P.S.
Here's a picture of my .300 Ultramag you built for me, and the first of many greenbacks I won with it. My brother Joe was the first victim, but certainly not the last.
Here's a picture of me and my rifle, this rifle will really shoot. This is my first time hand loading and I'm shooting groups in the .1s with this rifle, my smallest group is .065, I didn't get a chance to shoot on the long range before hunting season started, but I did get a chance to shoot a coyote at 900yrds while on a hunt in Mississippi. Steve did a good job on this rifle, its a 30-338 Win. Mag. it pushes the 210gr Berger at 2766fps and in the words of my brother its sweet as bear meat, when it comes to pure accuracy steve is the best and not only as gunsmith but as a person. Also I'm looking forward to building 6.5-284 and a 338 Lapua.
